The Irish Car Bomb is a drink which was invented in Connecticut in the 70s. It is made with a half pint of Guinness and involves dropping a shot of Jameson/Baileys mixed and then downing the whole thing.
The name comes from the fact that the Whiskey and Bailey's explodes in the glass, which reminded it's creator of the IRA. So my question is, is this drink offensive?
I feel like it is offensive, particularly to the people who grew up during The Troubles when car bombs and other IRA violence was common place in Northern Ireland.
If I were to create a drink which reminded me of the September 11th attacks would people allow it to be named a 9/11? I doubt it.
EDIT:
I have invented the 9/11.
Get 2 Pint Glasses
Half fill both with Bud Light.
Place the glasses side by side and rest 2 shots of Jack on the glasses
Drop the shots at the same time.
Knock one glass back
Then the other
And there you have it.

Haha I remember you talking about this on the way to Luckyfest. 100% agree. *goes to make a 9/11*
I have used this analogy before, but I like your recipe better. I also would like to invent a drink called the Palestinian Suicide Bomber
definitely, irish car bomb is one of the stars in St. Patrick's Day...

The Irish Car Bomb is said to have been invented in 1979 in Wilson's Saloon, 76 Franklin St. Norwich, Ct., on St.Patrick's Day, by Charles Burke Cronin Oat. It was a variation of another drink he invented known as the Grandfather. Made of one half oz. (give or take) of Baileys and one quarter oz. (give or take) of Kahlua. After realizing that something was missing, Charles Burke Cronin Oat added some Jameson Irish Whiskey, as he did this he said "the IRA just showed up", due to the fact the mixture started to foam over like a little explosion. And with this invention, the Grandfather disappeared and a new drink, the IRA was born.
